Return to the Arch.

We just had to come back to the Arch. The kids were totally excited about the idea of going "inside the rainbow."

But, before going up in the arch, we crossed the bridge into Illinois, so Jane can say she's been there!

The Arch and St. Louis skyline, as seen from the Illinois side of the river.

Going back across the bridge into Missouri.

To get from the parking lot to the Arch, you can walk under a lovely tree-lined promenade. We think we saw the singer from The White Stripes sitting on a bench, talking to a girl.

We had to wait about an hour for space on the tram to go up.

An exhibit on the building of the Arch.

The fountain and museum store.

We killed some time browsing around the museum exhibits.

Waiting for the tram to come.

Entering the tram seemed like going in a space ship.

This is what the doors look like from inside the tram, once you're closed into that very small space.

Lance and Seph, inside the tram.

Tig, inside the tram.

You can see the excitement on Zury's face!

Looking out, from the top of the Arch- 630 feet in the air.

The Mississippi River, from 630 feet in the air!

Zury takes in the view. These tiny lookout windows are the only openings in the arch that are above ground.

Seph stands by the window.

View of the city from the Arch.

A view of the park area around the Arch.

In the center is a historic cathedral that is next to the Arch.

Waiting for the tram to go back down.

In this picture you can kind of see the little slit windows that we had been looking out of, in the middle.

You can see the large stainless steel panels that make up the Arch's structure in this picture. A plane flies in the distance.

The Arch is stunning as the sun starts to set.

On Sunday morning, we head back toward home.

More of the beautiful Missouri roads on the way home!
