Sedgewick
County Zoo
On Saturday, May 3rd, Jane, Seph, Zury & Tig joined the Kansas City Herpetological Society on a trip to the Sedgewick County Zoo, which is in Wichita, KS!
Getting ready to go: gassing up in Yates Center.
Waiting by the entrance!
Checking out the zoo map.
Seph pets a karakal sheep at the children's section.
At the cow barn.
Zury gets to know the four-horned sheep.
Seph pets a baby goat.
We arrived just in time to see the zookeepers weighing little newborn goats!
Making friends with a kid...
At the camel pen.
The Aldabra tortoises enjoy some pampering!
Seph and Zury really liked the Komodo dragon sculpture.
Inside the jungle room!
These flying foxes hung in the trees above us, in the zoo's jungle room. All animals in this room roam freely.
A toad in the "jungle" underbrush.
The Tong family joined us for part of the day!
The American buffalo. These are HUGE!
The cougar, another native American animal that we saw.
Wart hogs, lazing in the sun.
A meerkat inspects us!
The zoo's two elephants.
This elephant thinks the greenest leaves grow on the other side of the fence. He perched on the edge to reach leaves in the trees on the other side!
The giraffe. We aren't sure why, but he was very intent on licking that pole!
Getting something nice and cold to drink, before heading home!
