Saturday
Road Trip
On Saturday, May 24, we headed up to Olathe to run a few errands and ended up "on an adventure."
The first place we went was the Saturn dealer, to try to get a new mirror for the Saturn (it got broken when Lance had a run in with a deer on the way to Texas), but it was closed in honor of the 3 day holiday weekend. So we stopped and took our picture by a gorilla at another dealership on the way back to the highway.
We went to lunch at Einstein Brothers Bagels and had delicious sandwiches! We took advantage of the nice weather to sit outside.
On the way home, we stopped at the south lake in Garnett, which is right by the National Guard Armory. They have some tanks out front.
On top of an even bigger tank!
Jane, Tig, Seph & Zury on the tank.
Close ups!
Lance atop the big tank.
Jane and the kids by the troop carrier.
Standing by the shallow part of the lake.
We saw a few turtles and fish, and could hear the frogs croaking. What a scene of tranquility!
Jane, Tig, and the kids on the dock. You can walk all the way across the lake on it!
Lance shows the little box turtle that he rescued out of the road. In the spring and summer, box turtles try to cross the roads in order to find water and mates. Without help, they perish, so we help them get across the road safely when it isn't a danger to us.
